The Land

The Log Cabin is situated on 12 organic acres of landscaped parkland which you are free to roam at leisure.
There is a choice of large swimming holes in the adjacent river and a few smaller pools to bathe in.
In the largest swimming hole it is possible to swim over 100 metres in a straight line without touching the bottom.
We also have a kayak for your enjoyment. This is usually tied up down by the river.
At present we are establishing The River Garden which is by the largest swimming hole.
In the height of the summer season there is a tipi in this garden for your use as a changing room, shade, or just as a chill out zone.
(subject to weather, etc)

Bush Walks From The Property

We are conveniently situated adjacent to the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park which has an excellent network of well maintained walking tracks. From the property there are several bush walks and tramps available depending on experience and time available.

Below are links to a selection of the tracks available:

The Waitawheta Tramway walk has recently been upgraded. The track is easy gradient with an emphasis on the historic aspects of the Kauri Logging for which the valley is famed. Informative signs are positioned along the original tramway giving an interesting story of the valley's colourful past. River crossings have been minimised by the construction of 3 new swing bridges.
